The formation of
Uttarakhand
Bio-fuel Board comes in to
existence under the tripartite
agreement by the Govt. of Uttarakhand on 16th June 2004
and registered under the society
registration Act, 1860. The
Uttarakhand Bio-fuel Board has
been declared as State Nodal
Agency in association with the
forest department and executing
the Jatropha plantation
programme.
The
main objectives of the board may
split as under
-
To undertake and perform all
the activities mentioned in the
objectives on non- profit basis.

To motivate the Van Panchayats
and Joint Forest Management
Committees for implementing the
various Bio- Fuel plantation
schemes of the State and Central
Govt.

To approve the micro plans,
fund flow and management as well
as monitoring of the plantation
activities at VP/ JFMC level.

To undertake research and
development activities which,
may aim at developing new
techniques, concepts, awareness
and knowledge with an object to
protect nature and develop
environmental systems.

To undertake and promote
social forestry, farm forestry,
extension forestry and
recreational forestry. To promote social welfare
activities conducive to the
protection and improvement of
the natural environment
including forest, lakes and wild
life. To preserve mountain ecology,
protect the mountain slopes by platation to sustain
productivity and environmental
security for the people.

To assist, collaborate and
organize training programmes,
conferences, seminars and
workshops in the field of
development and Environment
Protection and for this purpose
to develop infrastructure such
as institute, research centers
etc. to make the education and
awareness more effective and
undertake research activities
those are allied in nature and
train the villagers regarding
social forestry.

To involve the community at
the grass root level institution
building for participatory micro
planning, monitoring and
management with the special
emphasis on land, as well as create
awareness for environment
protection and promotion.
