The Uttarakhand Bio-Fuel Board has been incessantly taking incentives to create mass awareness for Bio-fuel production and implementing Jatropha plantation programme with close association of Van-Panchayats and doing advocacy at National and International level, the significance of bio-energy for environment protection and reduction in GHGs to the atmosphere. The Board has completed number of plantation, provided numerous man days to rural people belonging to SC/ ST, OBC and women and turned hectares of degraded land usable.

Presently, total 20239 hectares of area is under the Jatropha Plantation in ten districts namely Chamoli, Tehri, Dehradun, UdamsinghNagar, RudraPrayag, Almora, Pithoragarh. Nainital, Champawat and Pouri.
